A new chapter.
A familiar corner.
For many Calgarians, the corner of 16th Avenue and Centre Street North brings back memories of The Brick. After sitting empty for years, the site is becoming a place to gather again.
A place that reflects
its neighbours.
Rooted here.
Shaped together.
Corner Lot brings together local businesses, community members and arts organizers to make use of this space. Murals, shipping containers, seating, greenery and lighting have begun to change how the corner looks and feels. Community events are giving people new reasons to spend time here.
Crescent Heights is home to longstanding residents, Chinese immigrant families, young families and people making their homes in neighbourhood apartments. Its businesses and community spaces bring people with different backgrounds into contact every day.
Our vision is a welcoming place for everyday encounters, community celebrations and creative experiences.
As the space develops, we want the people who live, work and spend time here to help shape what comes next.

Springboard Performance
Brings experience in arts programming and activating public spaces, including its work with containR, an outdoor art park built around repurposed shipping containers.
City of Calgary
Owns the property and is working with the partners to support its use as a community gathering space.
What has happened so far
In its first summer of activity, Corner Lot hosted a night market, a free community Stampede breakfast, mural workshops and graffiti workshops. Early community feedback has welcomed the added colour and activity at this long-vacant corner.
